The Hungarian Grand Prix is in full swing at the Hungaroring from today. The Free Practice sessions started earlier today. Fernando Alonso was set to miss the FP1 session due to a back injury. There were probable questions about Fernando skipping the Grand Prix weekend altogether. Felipe Drugovich, who is Aston Martin’s reserve driver, was set to replace the Spaniard.
Although, Alonso has come forward to deliver his verdict on his condition. The 2-time-champion is ready to race in the FP2 session and won’t bail out from the Grand Prix this weekend. Alonso has been battling a back injury since the Belgian Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso’s injury surfaced after the Belgian Grand Prix. There was no break between the two Grand Prix weekend which meant Alonso had to speed up his recovery. Alonso has confirmed his muscular injury is not serious and there are no doubts about his participation during the weekend.
Felipe Drugovich drove the Aston Martin during the FP1 session. Drugovich placed P16 during the FP1 session. He completed a total of 26 laps and set a fastest time of 1:17.269.

Fernando Alonso completed his treatment today morning to ensure his participation. He has been medically cleared by the FIA. The Spaniard is known for his tenacity to remain on the grid despite any issues. To remind the viewers, Fernando Alonso is currently the oldest driver on the 2025 grid. He has shown no signs of backing down from the sport.
Unfortunately for Alonso, his back will have to handle the burden of bringing the AMR25 up to speed as they have been producing negligible results for the past weekends. Currently, Fernando Alonso is in the pits after completing 8 laps with a fastest time of 1:18.010 during thew FP2 session.
nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
