Barca’s Summer Opener Against Vissel Kobe Scrapped – Here’s What We Know.
Barcelona’s pre-season plans have taken a sudden and unexpected turn. The club has officially cancelled its first pre-season friendly against Japanese side Vissel Kobe. The match was originally scheduled for July 27 at Noevir Stadium in Kobe. However, In a statement released by the club, Barcelona confirmed the suspension of the fixture.
The Catalan giants cited “serious contractual breaches on behalf of the promoter” to be the cancellation of the match. They didn’t disclose any more specific details of the breach. However, sources suggest that the issue is likely tied to financial disagreements, possibly related to unpaid obligations or logistical failures.

Barcelona had been due to depart for Japan on Thursday. Squad announcements and travel arrangements were already in motion. However, the cancellation of the Vissel Kobe match has led to a halt in those plans. Thus, leaving the team’s itinerary in limbo.
Players are now expected to remain in Barcelona and resume their training at the Ciutat Esportiva instead of boarding the flight to Asia. The club expressed regret over the situation. Especially the disappointment it may cause to the vast number of Barcelona supporters in Japan.

They wrote in their statement, “FC Barcelona regrets this incident and the impact it will have on the many, many Barça fans in Japan.” However, Barcelona have not completely ruled out salvaging the fixture. The club noted that it is open to “readjusting the leg of the summer tour in South Korea.”
La Blaugrana are scheduled to face FC Seoul in South Korea on July 31 and Daegu FC on August 4. It also looks like the friendly match with Vissel Kobe could be rearranged to take place in South Korea. That is, if the promoter meets certain undisclosed conditions.
