Is Ferrari going to risk losing Lewis Hamilton trying to go after Christian Horner
Ferrari signing Lewis Hamilton to the team in 2025 was one of the biggest stories of the current season. Although, one may agree that his new stint with Ferrari in going rather difficult. Ferrari were in news once again in the previous month. This time they were reportedly trying to poach Christian Horner from Red Bull Racing. The move didn’t come to fruition earlier because Horner didn’t want to leave the Bulls.
However, a new situation is playing out in the Formula 1 field currently. Christian Horner and Red Bull Racing have parted ways as of July 2025 with immediate effect. Horner will still serve a gardening leave as a part of his exit clause, but there are numerous rumours about his involvement in other projects. Christian Horner is being linked to teams like Alpine and Ferrari. While Horner has not conveyed his intention to join another team, chances are that Ferrari may try to get him onboard once again.
According to Formula 1 pundit, Will Buxton, Ferrari’s dreams of competing with Christian Horner leading the team won’t come true as long as they want Lewis Hamilton. The Briton had earlier extended his backing to Fred Vasseur as the team principal. Lewis has also made it clear that he doesn’t intend to work with anyone else except Fred Vasseur.
In the Sports Agents Podcast, Will Buxton and Jennie Gow were discussing the possibility of Ferrari trying to work with Christian Horner and Lewis Hamilton together.

“But maybe they’ll surprise me. And do I see Lewis Hamilton wanting to work with Christian? Not really. I mean, it should be said – and Jenny makes a fabulous point with that – one of the key reasons that Lewis moved to Ferrari, it wasn’t just the allure of racing for the Scuderia. It was to link up once again with Fred Vasseur, who ran Lewis to his junior series championships. Lewis adores that man and has absolute faith in Fred Vasseur. If they replaced Fred with Christian Horner, I don’t think Lewis would be a Ferrari driver for much longer.”
There is no such animosity between Lewis Hamilton and Christian Horner. Lewis Hamilton may have been a staunch rival for Red Bull Racing during the 2021 Formula 1 season, but he was rather respectful towards Christian Horner.
Will Ferrari risk losing Hamilton after the massive spotlight they gained with him in the 2025 season? The team is in a precarious situation in the Formula 1 championships, but losing one of the best drivers at the dawn of new regulations is not going to help them one bit.
nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
Message to Readers: I promise you one day you’ll see me managing operations on track with a Formula 1 team ; )
