The Brazilian Forward Strikes Stunning Braces in the Club World Cup Semi-Final.

Joao Pedro enjoyed a dream debut for Chelsea in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup semi-final. He scored a brace, including a screamer against Fluminense to give the Blues a comfortable 0-2 lead. The 23-year-old Brazilian striker joined Chelsea from Brighton just six days earlier.

He arrived at the club in style as he didn’t waste any time showing his worth. Pedro began his football journey with Chelsea’s opponents for today. He also showed class when he chose not to celebrate after scoring his goals out of respect for his former team.

Pedro’s £55 million move, rising to £60 million with add-ons, was confirmed on July 2 while he was still vacationing in Brazil. Cutting short his holiday, he joined Chelsea’s squad in the United States. To his and everyone else’s surprise, hee was even handed his first start by Enzo Maresca.

He was brought in to replace the suspended Liam Delap. Despite limited training time, the forward proved he was ready. His first goal arrived in the 18th minute and his second in the 56th minute at MetLife Stadium.

Joao Pedro Bags Stunning Brace

After a failed Fluminense clearance, Pedro picked up the ball near the left corner of the penalty area. He shifted onto his right foot and curled a screamer past goalkeeper Fabio. Immediately after scoring, Pedro raised his hands in apology and refrained from celebrating.

Thus, honoring his history with the Brazilian club. He scored another screamer for this second goal when he got a through ball from Enzo Fernandez and ran forward with it from almost the half-line. He then cuts into the box, gets the ball and shoots. The ball hits the crossbar and touches the back of the net.

Enzo Maresca in Pre-match Press Conference

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca lauded the new signing’s adaptation and sharpness during the pre-match press conference. He said, “The reason why we decided to involve him is because since he arrived, even if he was on holiday, he looks sharp, he looks good, and we wanted to give him some minutes.”

After a tough fight against Fluminense, Chelsea have sealed their spot in the final. That is, credit to an outstanding debut performance from the New joinee Joao Pedro. In the final, they will either face Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid on July 13.
