World No. 4 Iga Swiatek will bid to reach her first ever Wimbledon semifinal when she takes on Liudmila Samsonova of Russia in the 2025 Wimbledon Championships quarterfinal on Wednesday. Liudmila Samsonova Proves That She is Silent But Deadly

Despite failing to add a trophy to her cabinet this year, Liudmila Samsonova has designed a solid season for herself. She started the year by reaching the semifinal in Adelaide, losing to Australian Open champion Madison Keys. After a quarterfinal finish at Indian Wells where she fell to top seed Aryna Sabalenka, the 26-year-old had a turbulent European swing. Yet, Samsonova always manages to bounce back right before a Grand Slam.

At the Internationaux de Strasbourg, Samsonova overhauled the likes of Paula Badosa and Danielle Collins to reach her first final of the season. Despite losing to Elena Rybakina, it gave her the confidence to eventually reach the Roland Garros pre-quarters for the first time. The World No. 19 is currently 24-15 this year, with a 73% service game success rate on this surface.
