Elina Svitolina vs. Beatriz Haddad Maia: Preview, Prediction, and Betting Odds for WTA Bad Homburg Open 2025 Round of 16

Rudra Dubey

Svitolina eyes another deep run as she faces Haddad Maia in their first-ever clash on grass.

Seventh seed Elina Svitolina is set to take on the unseeded Beatriz Haddad Maia in the second round of the Bad Homburg Open. The Ukrainian came through with a straight-sets win over Elise Mertens, while Haddad Maia made quick work of lucky loser Ashlyn Krueger, handing her a breadstick in the opening set.

The stakes are high, with a spot in the quarterfinals against second seed Jasmine Paolini on the line. Paolini just edged past Leylah Fernandez in two tightly contested tiebreak sets. As Svitolina and Haddad Maia meet for the first time on the speediest surface of all, grass, this matchup promises fireworks.

Svitolina has put together a strong season, highlighted by quarterfinal runs at the Australian Open, Indian Wells, and Roland Garros. She also won her 18th career singles title in Rouen and made deep clay-court runs in Madrid (semifinal) and Rome (quarterfinal) before a back injury forced her out of Strasbourg. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
