‘Something really special” – Emma Raducanu Opens Up on Carlos Alcaraz’s US Open Invitation

Emma Raducanu finally shares her thoughts on Carlos Alcaraz’s special request for US Open. The Spaniard reached out to women’s tennis star to play together in the mixed doubles event in season’s last Grand Slam tournament. The British No. 1 revealed how the five-time major champion sent her an invitation to be his mixed doubles partner.

While talking in an interview, Raducanu opened up on Carlos Alcaraz’s US Open invitation and gave her opinion on teaming up with the world No. 2 in the ATP rankings. The British star is keen to play alongside the champion player in the US Open. The pair is already making headlines since the announcement of US Open’s mixed doubles draw.

“He messaged me and asked me to play. I mean, I was very surprised and excited, of course,” Raducanu revealed in the interview.

Raducanu Wants To Push Her Limit to Match the Standard of Alcaraz in US Open

Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz are two former US Open champions. Both have came together to make a strong case for the mixed doubles title. Raducanu, the British No. 1 women’s player, can’t wait to get started with her doubles partner, Carlos Alcaraz. She also expressed respect for the Spaniard’s grand slam achievements.

“I really want to do as best as I can to not let my partner down,” the British ace said, showing the pressure to match with Carlos. Emma wants to perform on high level so she can match the standard of world No. 2 men’s tennis player.

“It’s just routine for him to win tournaments, it’s incredible,” Raducanu said, expressing how Carlos owned the ATP and Grand Slam tournament this year. Her statement came after Alcaraz’s back-to-back glory at Queen’s Club.

The US Open mixed doubles event will take place on Aug. 19-20, 2025. It’s a revamped event this year and will feature16 star-studded teams competing for a $1 million prize that will be split by the winners. Apart from Raducanu-Alcaraz pair, top tennis stars will team up for the event such as Jannik Sinner, Coco Gauff, Aryna Sabalenka, Alexander Zverev, Mirra Andreeva, Jack Drapper etc.

Emma Raducanu also admired Wimbledon organisers after their security system detected and blocked the man who stalked her, after he attempted to buy tickets for this year’s event. “I feel comfortable. I feel safe,” the British No. 1 said.
