Carlos Alcaraz Defeats Jiri Lehecka to Clinch Second Queen’s Club Title in Three Years

Carlos Alcaraz captured the Queen’s Club Championships (HSBC Championships) crown for the second time in three years on Sunday, defeating Jiri Lehecka 7-5, 6-7, 6-2 in a gripping final.

The 22-year-old Spaniard secured his 21st career singles title, and fifth of the 2025 season, with yet another dominant grass-court performance, stretching his winning streak to 18 matches and 12 on grass alone. His current season form now stands at 29 wins to just 3 losses on the surface.

Respect Earned, Glory Claimed

The Spaniard fired 18 aces to Lehecka’s seven, with both players committing two double faults. The Spaniard won an impressive 87% of his first-serve points and 78% on his second, converting three of five break-point opportunities.

Regardless of Lehecka’s clean performance, the Czech struggled to break through in key moments against a player of Alcaraz’s elite caliber. Throughout the match, Alcaraz found the margins and seized them, turning the tide at the most pivotal moments.

Alcaraz, taking center stage with the trophy, shared kind words for his opponent, calling Lehecka’s performance “incredible” and saying that “it’s a nightmare to play against you.” Speaking to Clare Balding in the on-court interview, he reflected on how he came into the event just trying to adapt to the surface, with no expectations, and now looks forward to returning again next year.

Runner-up Jiri Lehecka received a warm ovation from the crowd as he accepted his plate. He admitted the loss was difficult but expressed gratitude for the chance to play in a prestigious final and thanked those who made the tournament possible.

Alcaraz Hits Milestones as Grass-Court Dominance Grows

While many players struggle transitioning from clay to grass, Alcaraz once again made it look seamless, boosting fan expectations ahead of Wimbledon 2025. This title also marks his third consecutive tournament win, underscoring his dominance as the grass-court season heats up.

The world No. 2 had already made history in the semifinals, earning his 250th tour-level victory by defeating fellow Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4, 6-4. Among players who turned pro in the Open Era, Alcaraz is now the third-fastest to reach that milestone.
