WWE Analysis: Did helping other cost Jey Uso his Heavyweight Championship?

Ashish Negi

What was the actual reason behind Jey Uso losing his title?

Not long ago, Jey Uso defeated the brutality of Gunther with his never-give-up attitude and grit. His defeat against Gunther pointed out one thing: that the human body has limitations, and so does our former Heavyweight Champion. Jey Uso’s title reign didn’t last two months.

Jey Uso was ready to fight till his last breath, but it was his body that gave up after being subjected to brutalization for weeks, first at the hands of Seth Rollins and his crew, then by John Cena and Logan Paul, and lastly, Gunther, who is now the new heavyweight champion. So what’s the actual reason behind his defeat? Let’s find out

Does helping friends actually cost Jey Uso his title?

Jey Uso tried marching in Cody Rhodes’ shoes, giving help to his friends if and when they needed it. It started when he tried to stop an all-out attack on Sami Zayn but suffered brutalization at the hands of Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker. Sami Zayn teamed up with CM Punk, but the addition of Bronson Reed made them handicapped against Seth Rollins. Jey Uso then Randy to help CM Punk and Sami Zayn, but received Spears, Tsunami, and Stomps in return.

This continued for weeks till his match against Logan Paul at SNME. Cody Rhodes helped Jey Uso against the assault of John Cena and Logan Paul. Jey Uso then helped CM Punk and Sami Zayn on Raw and Cody Rhodes on SmackDown. Jey Uso was subjected to a brutal assault from John Cena and Logan Paul the night before MITB and then at the MITB. While Jey Uso wasn’t ready to admit his body was taking a heavy toll, it was apparent to his friends and more so to his rivals.

Gunther warned Jey that helping all his friends would make him a weak target in their match. It’s what happened today when Jey Uso delivered his first Uso Splash and hit an already injured rib. Gunther saw the opportunity and started targeting the weak spot for the entire duration of the match. Even the attack Jey Uso did on Gunther hurt his midsection. Jey Uso wanted to fight and retain his title, but his body stopped him from doing so, and he finally succumbed to the assault he suffered from a long time ago.
