Tottenham Plot Emotional Harry Kane Return Amid Premier League Comeback Talks

Abhinav Goel

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing a sensational bid to re-sign Harry Kane next summer. Spurs owners ENIC ready to back manager Thomas Frank in what would be one of the biggest transfers in Premier League history. Now 32, Harry Kane has already netted 11 goals and 3 assists in six Bundesliga matches this term. He also has six goals in six World Cup 2026 qualifying matches for England.

According to reports, the England captain is said to be open to a return to north London after two prolific seasons with Bayern Munich. Despite his continued dominance in Germany, sources close to the player suggest Kane has a desire to chase Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League scoring record (260 goals), which could prompt a move home. Kane currently sits on 213 Premier League goals, just 47 shy of the milestone he has long dreamed of surpassing.

Tottenham Preparing Blockbuster Move To Bring Harry Kane

Spurs’ hierarchy views Kane’s potential comeback as a statement signing, signaling their intent to return to the Premier League’s elite under Frank. The Dane has revitalized Tottenham’s squad, guiding them to third place after seven games in the 2025-26 campaign. Spurs currently sit just two points behind leaders Arsenal and club leaders believe Kane’s arrival could turn them into genuine title contenders.

Interestingly, Harry Kane has a release clause in his contract that becomes active in January. According to Sky Sports News, the clause would allow him to leave for £67m in 2025, before dropping to £54m in 2026. Tottenham also inserted a ‘first option’ clause in the deal, giving them the right to match any bid accepted by Bayern.

However, Manchester United are also monitoring the situation closely. United see Kane as the ideal leader for their attacking rebuild. However, the Red Devils know that convincing Kane will depend on Champions League qualification and stability. Without it, the player’s preference for building his legacy could steer him back to the club where his career began.

At Bayern Munich, Kane remains central to the team’s success, with club officials hopeful of extending his contract. Yet, they privately acknowledge his ambition to return to England eventually. Tottenham’s willingness to cover his release clause and match his salary gives them a significant advantage, especially with the emotional connection between player and club. If Spurs succeed in pulling off the deal before the 2026 summer transfer window, it would mark a fairytale homecoming for Kane.
