The Baltimore Ravens are set to take on the Houston Texans in week 5. Both teams will be heading into the matchup with a 1-3 record, and one more loss could spell big trouble with respect to their playoff hopes.

The Ravens have multiple players suffering from injuries, but none are bigger than that of quarterback Lamar Jackson, who left the game early in week 4 against the Chiefs.

Lamar Jackson Injury Update

During the third quarter of the Ravens’ game against the Chiefs on Monday Night Football last week, Lamar Jackson suffered a hamstring injury that forced him out of the game. Although it is unclear on which play the injury actually occurred, Jackson was unable to continue.

Following the game, coach John Harbaugh commented that he wasn’t aware of the extent of any of the injuries his team had suffered in the game; however, he also stated that none of them seemed to be season-ending ones.

Latest reports indicate that Jackson is likely to miss the next 2-3 weeks of action, depending on the severity of his hamstring injury.

Baltimore Ravens Depth Chart

With Jackson potentially set to miss the next 2-3 weeks, backup quarterback Cooper Rush is the next man in. The veteran quarterback took Jackson’s place under center last week to finish the game against the Chiefs.

Currently, the Ravens only have Jackson and Rush on the team’s 53-man roster. Baltimore is also employing Tyler Huntley on its practice squad, who is currently their third-string quarterback. Thus, the Ravens’ depth chart at quarterback is as follows.

Lamar Jackson – starter
Cooper Rush – backup
Tyler Huntley – practice squad

Rush is currently in his ninth season in the league, but has always served as a backup quarterback. He spent almost all of his career as the backup to Dak Prescott in Dallas. From 14 starts, Rush has a 9-5 record and has been a dependable backup for the most part.

Tyler Huntley is currently in his sixth season and has also started 14 games, but has a 5-9 record. Huntley will be adept with the Ravens offense, having spent the first four seasons with the team before joining the Dolphins for one year in 2024.

The main issue at hand for the Ravens is the number of games Jackson will end up missing. Already struggling with a 1-3 record, Baltimore could even fall to 1-5 before Jackson makes his return.

The one positive for the Ravens is that the week 5 game is against the Houston Texans, a team that has regressed significantly this season. However, week 6 against the Los Angeles Rams could be a tougher matchup, and if Jackson doesn’t play, Baltimore could be in a heap of trouble.
