UFC 322- Jack Della Maddalena Confident About “Blowing Off MSG’s Roof” vs Islam Makhachev With This Feat

Eric Divakaran

UFC 322 ignites Madison Square Garden on November 15 as welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena (18-2, 8-0 UFC) defends his title against Islam Makhachev (27-1 MMA, 16-1 UFC). Makhachev, the former lightweight king, relinquished his belt after Belal Muhammad’s shocking loss at UFC 315, opting to chase welterweight glory. HIs move up follows a very dominant reign, but the Aussie champ, fresh off a career-defining upset, stands in his way. Della Maddalena’s unexpected knockout of Muhammad stunned the MMA world, cementing his status as a dangerous all-around fighter.

Nobody predicted Della Maddalena would dethrone Muhammad, yet his blend of crisp striking and takedown defense flipped the script. Now, facing Makhachev’s elite grappling and improved striking, he’s ready for a war. Makhachev, who’s known for his suffocating ground game, will eye for an early takedown to neutralize the champ’s power. MSG braces for a clash that could redefine the welterweight’s picture.

Jack Della Maddalena Plans to Steal the Show Against Makhachev at UFC 322

Jack Della Maddalena is gearing up for an explosive showdown against Islam Makhachev, anticipating early grappling exchanges. The welterweight champ expects Makhachev to avoid Muhammad’s mistake of delaying wrestling.

“He’s probably gonna try and get into the wrestling early,” Della Maddalena said via Submission Radio. He views Makhachev as a unique challenge with superior finishing ability and power on the feet compared to Muhammad.

However, even though Della Maddalena looks at Makhachev as a tough challenge, he also mentioned, “I’m gonna go for (the finish). That would be the best case scenario. I can see it happening. I can see it blowing the roof off MSG.”

Has Islam Makhachev Ever Been Finished in his Career?

Islam Makhachev has been finished once in his career. At UFC 192 in 2015, Adriano Martins knocked him out in the first round with a counter right hand, marking Makhachev’s only loss in 28 fights. Since then, he’s been dominant and racked up countless wins. But, Della Maddalena will be a different challenge – He’s stronger, bigger, arguably has the best ground defense of anyone Makhachev’s fought so far.

This thriller coming up for UFC 322, will not be an easy fight for Makhachev by any means. If Islam manages to win, his legacy will be one of the best in UFC history, but if he loses, where does he go from there? We’ll have to wait and see.

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
