New York Liberty are one of the most popular franchises in the WNBA and they compete as a member of the Eastern Conference. The franchise was founded in 1997 and they are one of the eight original franchises of the WNBA. Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai have the majority stakes of this franchise. The duo also owns the NBA franchise, Brooklyn Nets. Barclays Center hosts Liberty’s all home games. Ellie the Elephant is their mascot which was introduced in 2021.
