UFC 316 Results Last Night – Merab Dvalishvili And Kayla Harrison Deliver Statement Wins!

Newark’s Prudential Center has seen some wild fights over the years and the venue knows how to deliver drama. This weekend was no different as UFC 316 rolled into town with a stacked card that promised fireworks. The main event featured Merab Dvalishvili defending his bantamweight title against Sean O’Malley in their highly anticipated rematch. Their first meeting left fans wanting more, and boy did they get it.

In the second title fight, Julianna Pena was set to defend her title against Kayla Harrison. This fight had bad blood written all over it and it delivered as well. And so did the rest of the card. Here are the results of the UFC 316 main card, preliminary card and the early prelim card.

UFC 316 Main Card Result

The main event lived up to every bit of hype surrounding it. Merab Dvalishvili reminded everyone why he’s the king of the bantamweight division with another dominant performance. The Georgian bulldozer pushed his winning streak to an incredible 13 fights by submitting Sean O’Malley in the third round. Dvalishvili outworked him on the feet, dominated the wrestling exchanges, and never let up for a single second. When the end came via ninja choke at 4:42 of round three, it felt inevitable. ‘The Machine’ had broken O’Malley’s will over the course of 14 grueling minutes.

The co-main event brought equally impressive fireworks with Kayla Harrison capturing the women’s bantamweight title. The two-time Olympic gold medalist dominated Julianna Pena from the opening bell. Harrison controlled the first round fully. Pena lost a point due to illegal upkicks. The second round saw Harrison work her magic on the ground, transitioning from an arm triangle attempt to a kimura that forced Pena to tap at 4:55.

Joe Pyfer continued his rise through the middleweight ranks with a hard-fought decision win over Kelvin Gastelum. The hulking Pyfer showed both power and heart, dropping Gastelum twice in the first round with thunderous right hands. Gastelum’s veteran savvy kept him in the fight over the final two rounds, but Pyfer’s early dominance earned him unanimous scorecards.

Mario Bautista extended his winning streak to eight fights by thoroughly outworking former Bellator champion Patchy Mix in his UFC debut. Bautista picked Mix apart with precise striking and superior conditioning. Kevin Holland opened the main card in spectacular fashion. He submitted Vicente Luque with a D’Arce choke in the second round. Holland’s submission was particularly sweet since the D’Arce is Luque’s signature move.!

UFC 316 Preliminary Card Result

The preliminary card of UFC 316 showcased the incredible depth of talent on the roster. Joshua Van continued his meteoric rise through the flyweight division with a dominant TKO victory over Bruno Silva. The 23-year-old Burmese native has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting prospects in the sport.

Azamat Murzakanov kept his perfect record intact with a first-round knockout of Brendson Ribeiro. The patient veteran waited for his opening before unleashing a devastating left hand that ended Ribeiro’s night early. Waldo Cortes Acosta edged out Sergey Spivac in a competitive heavyweight battle that went the full fifteen minutes. Andreas Gustafsson made an immediate impact in his UFC debut, completely shutting down Khaos Williams over three rounds. The Swedish fighter’s relentless pressure and superior conditioning overwhelmed the American veteran

UFC 316 Early Prelims Results

Wang Cong picked up her second win of the year with a unanimous decision over Ariane da Silva, showing continued improvement in her striking game. JooSang Yoo announced his arrival in the UFC with a stunning 28-second knockout of Jeka Saragih. The South Korean fighter’s counter left hook was reminiscent of Conor McGregor’s famous knockout of Jose Aldo.

Quillan Salkilld dominated Israeli Yanal Ashmouz over three rounds, mixing his grappling and striking effectively. The 25-year-old Australian prospect showed he could go the distance after his 19-second February debut knockout. MarQuel Mederos opened the card with a leg-kick clinic against Mark Choinski, dropping him three times en route to a lopsided decision victory!
