After a decade of brilliance in sky blue, Kevin De Bruyne is preparing to say goodbye to Manchester City, bringing an end to one of the most iconic chapters in the club’s history. The Belgian midfielder expressed deep gratitude to City supporters as he gets set to leave the club this summer. De Bruyne’s creativity and vision have defined an era of dominance at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola.

De Bruyne joined City in 2015 and quickly became the heartbeat of a team that would go on to achieve unprecedented domestic and European success. From his first trophy, the League Cup in his debut season to helping deliver a total of 19 major honours, including six Premier League titles, De Bruyne has left an indelible mark on the club and English football as a whole.

The Only Thing I Can Say Is Thank You: De Bruyne

During his time at Man City, Kevin De Bruyne dazzled everyone with his pinpoint passing, game-changing assists and clutch goals. De Bruyne has tallied an astounding 170 assists at Manchester City. 119 of those assists came in the Premier League, the second-most in the competition’s history. He’s also scored 108 goals, making him one of just 19 players to net over 100 goals for Manchester City.

De Bruyne said in a heartfelt message,

“The only thing I can say is thank you. Thank you for supporting me, obviously supporting the team, the club, supporting my family, my kids.”

“It’s always been positive towards me and my family – that’s really important for me. It’s weird because for my family, it’s home. My kids were born here. I don’t think I can explain how I feel about everything, how much I appreciate it so, I can just say thank you.”

During his time at the Etihad, City set the benchmark in English football, winning six of the last eight Premier League titles. City also won five League Cups, two FA Cups, and their first-ever Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup. At the center of it all was De Bruyne, orchestrating City’s midfield, delivering in big moments, and elevating the players around him.

As he prepares to move on, De Bruyne’s legacy at Manchester City is already secure. He leaves not just as a fan favorite, but as one of the greatest players ever to wear the City shirt.
