The Bayern Munich Striker Reflects on His First Major Silverware, Life in Germany, and Possibility of a Return to the Premier League.

After 15 years of top-flight football, Harry Kane finally has a major trophy to his name. The Bayern Munich forward capped off his second season in Germany with a Bundesliga title and another Golden Boot. Thus, making it his fifth across English and German football.

Speaking to BBC Sport, the 31-year-old shared the emotion of finally silencing critics. Reflecting on the club’s celebratory parade in Munich, Kane said, “It was an amazing experience, to be honest. Until you experience it yourself, it’s hard to put into words.”

For years, Kane’s prolific scoring record at Tottenham Hotspur was overshadowed by a glaring absence of silverware. That narrative has now changed. He admitted, “Of course, it was a great feeling for me, and probably a relief as well, just to have that off my back. Maybe from the outside, the perception will now be a little bit different.”

Family, Adaptation, and German Life

The England captain moved from Tottenham to Bayern in 2023 for £86.4 million. However, the move didn’t only come with a change in style of play, but it also came with challenges beyond football. He initially lived alone in a hotel while his family stayed in London. Talking about it, he said:

“When we first moved to Germany, it was tough. Now though, we’ve all been together in a house for over a year… the kids are in school, and they’re loving it.” Kane credits the warm welcome from Bayern fans and the German public for helping his family settle, saying, “It’s really made us feel special, not just for me, but for my family as well.”

Harry Kane was one of the best players in the Premier League. When his time came for him to leave Spurs, he received many offers from Premier League clubs. There was still a chance that he would have stayed in England considering his family relocation and goal tally in the Premier League.

With 213 Premier League goals under his belt, only Alan Shearer (260) stands ahead of him. Hence, there have been persistent links to a Premier League comeback. However, Kane has remained non-committal. He assured that currently his focus remains at Bayern, as he said:

“No, I don’t really think about it. Football kind of takes you on your own journey. I’ve really enjoyed my time here and I’m not thinking about being anywhere else.” With a trophy to his name, for the first time in his career, Kane is focused on bringing more. And he’s doing it with a league winner’s medal around his neck for the first time.
