Real Madrid Confirm £50M Signing of Dean Huijsen As First Arrival of 2025 Summer Window

Real Madrid have wasted no time in making a statement ahead of the 2025-26 season. The Spanish giants have officially confirming the signing of highly rated defender Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth. The 20-year-old Spain international becomes Los Blancos’ first acquisition of the summer transfer window, arriving for a reported fee of £50 million after his release clause was triggered earlier this week.

Huijsen’s signing comes after a pursuit involving several Premier League giants, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Arsenal. However, the player’s desire to return to Spain, where he grew up and spent time in Malaga’s youth setup, ultimately paved the way for a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Huijsen To Play in FIFA Club World Cup

Real Madrid acted swiftly to finalise the deal, also reaching an agreement with Bournemouth to allow Huijsen to leave his contract at the end of the Premier League season. This enables him to join the squad in time for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, where he is expected to be part of the defensive core under incoming manager Xabi Alonso.

In an official statement, Real Madrid said,

“Real Madrid C. F. and AFC Bournemouth have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Dean Huijsen, who is linked to our club for the next five seasons, from June 1, 2025 to June 30, 2030.

“At 20 years old, Dean Huijsen is already an international with Spain and has played in Italy’s Serie A with Juventus and Roma, and in the Premier League with Bournemouth.”

Huijsen joined Bournemouth from Juventus for just £12.6 million last summer. He has since made 34 appearances across all competitions, contributing three goals and delivering standout performances that caught the eye of big teams across Europe. Juventus will also benefit from the move, reportedly receiving 10% of the transfer fee as part of a sell-on clause. Huijsen has also been nominated for the best young player in the Premier League this season.
