Ironically, Munar’s first two losses of the season came at the hands of Ruud. The Norwegian ousted him in the opening round of the Australian Open and again in the Dallas Open semifinals. That Dallas run remains Munar’s deepest this year; in all other events, he has failed to move beyond the Round of 16.

Still, the world No. 66 has shown signs of promise. He holds a 10-9 record this season, backed by a solid 72% win rate on first-serve points and 79 aces.
