Mirra Andreeva vs. Magdalena Frech Head to Head Record, Preview and Prediction for WTA Madrid Open 2025 Round of 32

Gulshan Sharma

Both players have a similar playing style, but clay court record puts Mirra Andreeva ahead in this matchup.

No. 7 seed Mirra Andreeva kicked off her 2025 Madrid Open campaign with a 6-3, 6-4 win in the Round of 64 against Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic. The Russian ace will take on Magdalena Frech in the Round of 32 clash on Saturday. The Polish tennis star came through a tough three-setter in her opening match.

Andreeva would eye a third singles title this year after winning the Dubai Open and Indian Wells. The world No. 7 was ousted in the round of 16 in the recently concluded Stuttgart Open. She has won three singles titles so far, including two WTA-1000s. The former Roland Garros semifinalist also won her first WTA 1000 doubles title at the Miami Open this year alongside Diana Shnaider.

Magdalena Frech is currently ranked No. 23 in the world and defeated Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in nearly 3 hours after coming back from a set and 3 breakpoints down. She hasn’t won back-to-back games since the Australian Open, and surprisingly, it was Andreeva who defeated the Polish star in the third round. Magdalena is just 1–17 against Top-10, lone win recorded against Navarro in Wuhan last year.

Mirra Andreeva vs Magdalena Frech Head to Head Record

The head-to-head record between Mirra Andreeva vs Magdalena Frech is 1-0 in favour of the Russian ace. Surprisingly, it will be their second meeting in four months and their first on the clay court.

Mirra Andreeva vs Magdalena Frech Madrid Open 2025 Prediction

Both players have a similar playing style, but clay court record puts Mirra Andreeva ahead in this matchup. After losing the first set in the Australian Open this year, Frech outclassed the Russian 6-1 in the second set but couldn’t survive in the final set.

Magdalena’s backhand is her stronger groundstroke, but it requires an extraordinary effort to make a potential chance of causing an upset against Andreeva’s heavier topspin and better movement. With 11 quarterfinals in the last 16 months makes Andreeva favourite in the game.

Prediction: Mirra Andreeva in straight sets.
