American football cornerback William Johnson played his college football for the Michigan Wolverines from 2022 to 2024. He appeared in all 14 games as a freshman switching from cornerback and defensive tackle. Johnson was named the Freshman All-American by PFF in 2022.

Starting 11 games as the defensive back in 2023, Johnson recorded 27 tackles and four interceptions. He was named the All-American by SI and was also selected in the All-Big Ten as a sophomore. Johnson was also the Defensive MVP in the 2023 National Championship Game in 2023.

Johnson started six games as a junior at the cornerback position. He had a breakout year earning his second consecutive All-American and All-Big Tem Selection in 2024. Johnson was the semi-finalist for the 2024 Jim Thorpe Award. Appearing in 22 games for the Wolverines, Johnson made 22 starts as a cornerback over three seasons.
