Inside the family background of Georgia linebacker and NFL Draft prospect Jalon Walker.
Jalon Walker, a standout linebacker, was selected by the Atlanta Falcons with the 15th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Known for his athleticism, burst, and versatility, Walker lined up all over the field on passing downs, in addition to playing inside linebacker. To break tendencies, he hurried from outside the tackle to over the center and even dropped into coverage.
Standing 6’1″ and weighing 250 pounds, Walker’s frame is better suited for linebacker, as he lacks the length typical of NFL edge rushers. He joined the University of Georgia in 2022 as a five-star recruit from Salisbury High School. He exploded in his senior year, recording 60 tackles (37 solo) for 11 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. Finished off the year by winning the Butkus Award, given to the nation’s top college linebacker, and also earned first-team All-American and second-team All-SEC honors.

Jalon Walker’s parents are Curtis and LaSheka Walker. They also have a younger son, Deuce, who plays college football for Georgia State University as a safety.
Jalon Walker’s father is Curtis Walker. He was the head coach for the Catawba College football team from 2012 to 2022. He started off as a linebackers coach at Catawba in 1995 before receiving a promotion to defensive coordinator in 2001. Curtis moved to Coastal Carolina in the same role two years later. After nearly ten years, he returned to Catawba as head coach in 2012.
Curtis also played college football for Catawba College and in 1991, he was the team captain and MVP. He still holds the school’s single-game record of 25 tackles against Wofford.

Curtis told WCNC, “Being tagged as a coach’s kid, he really defines that.” Growing up, Jalon saw his father coach at Catawba and Coastal Carolina from the sidelines. But he wasn’t interested in football back then; in fact, he started playing after seventh grade. Walker, a late bloomer, eventually developed a deep love for the game and made it to the 2025 NFL Draft.
Jalon Walker’s mother is LaSheka Walker. However, no other information is available about her in the public domain.
