Manchester City vs. Aston Villa Premier League – Injury News, Match Preview and Predicted Line-Ups

Abhinav Goel

Unai Emery’s men are in top form right now, with nine wins from their last 10 matches in all competitions.

With just five gameweeks left in the Premier League season, Manchester City host Aston Villa at the Etihad on Tuesday night in an important clash. This match will have huge implications on the race for Champions League qualification. Pep Guardiola’s side come into this fixture after a crucial 2-0 win over Everton, which extended their unbeaten run to six matches in all competitions. Fifth-placed City will aim to solidify their spot in the Champions League places, with only a single point separating them from Villa.

In the reverse fixture last December, Aston Villa claimed a 2-0 victory over Manchester City. Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are in top form right now, with nine wins from their last 10 matches in all competitions. A win here would see Villa leapfrog City. However, recent history doesn’t favor the visitors as Villa haven’t won at the Etihad in over 12 years.

Pep Guardiola still faces a lengthy absentee list ahead of the clash with Aston Villa as Rodri, Nathan Ake, Erling Haaland and John Stones are all sidelined. Manchester City are also likely to be without first-choice goalkeeper Ederson, who remains a doubt due to a groin issue.

Defender Manuel Akanji returned to action with a brief appearance off the bench on Saturday, marking his first involvement since February 11. Emerging star Nico O’Reilly, who has scored in back-to-back Premier League games, is expected to retain his place at left-back.
