‘I Have Zero Idea What You’re Trying To Do’ – Charles Barkley Has a Blunt Message for Mavericks GM Nico Harrison

Hall of Famer Charles Barkley, who is known for his blunt opinions, has once again made it to the headlines. This time, he had Nico Harrison, the much-maligned General Manager of the Dallas Mavericks, on his radar. Chuck addressed Harrison with name, and shared one simple advice- to stop talking.

In the past couple of months, Harrison has seen a ton of backlash from fans after he pulled off one of the biggest trades in the NBA by sending Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers to sign Anthony Davis. Since then, Harrison has been trying to justify the move. On Monday, he addressed the media publicly for the first time, where he made some comments about the 26-year-old, and Mavericks fans.

Following the press conference, player-turned-analyst Barkley shared a message to friend, Harrison. He said, “Listen man, I consider you a friend of mine, Nico Harrison.I thought you did a good job last year with the Mavs and obviously whatever happened this year didn’t work out.”

The 11-time All-Star straight-forward begged Harrison to stop doing anymore press conferences. He said, “Man don’t do no more press conferences. I don’t even know what you’re doing, I really don’t. I got sympathy and love for you but I have zero idea what you’re trying to do. The war is over brother, you’re taking the L. I hope you keep your job, hope the team gets healthy but man, don’t do any more interviews. Please don’t.”

During the press-conference, Harrison said that he had miscalculated the affection franchise fans had for Luka Doncic. He said, “I did know that Luka was important to the fan base. I didn’t quite know it to what level.”

Nico Harrison Looks Optimistic For Upcoming Season

The Mavs GM has high hopes for the upcoming season of the NBA, and he guaranteed fans that the franchise would come back stronger in the 2025-26 season. He said, “Defense wins championships and we are hanging our hat on defense. We’re going to return one of the best front lines in the NBA, and we have one of the deepest and the most versatile benches.”

Harrison continued, “With the support of the fans, we are committed to coming back next year stronger than ever. Every decision we make this year will be through the lens of competing to win, and our goal is to bring a championship back to Dallas.”

After trading Doncic to the Lakers, Mavs had to deal with a slew of injuries in the last few months of the season. Key players including Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, Daniel Gafford, and Dereck Lively II got injured, which prevented the side from coming up with a competitive roster.

The Mavs managed to secure a play-in berth, but failed to make it past that. They finished the season at tenth spot with a 39-43 record.
