Looking for a much needed boost in form, Alexander Zverev takes to Centre Court on Saturday for his 2025 BMW Open semifinal against Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan. Backed by the raucous home crowd in Germany, the World No. 3 will be aiming to reach his first final since the Australian Open. The winner will face either Ben Shelton or Francisco Cerundolo in the final.

Having nearly clawed his way up to the top of the rankings, Alexander Zverev had a major slip up at the final hurdle. As a result, a poor run in the Sunshine cities as well as Monte Carlo meant that Carlos Alcaraz stole the German’s ATP World No. 2 ranking. But he has showcased the level we’ve all seen from him for years this week – beating Muller and Altmaier – before avenging his Indian Wells defeat to Griekspoor.

Fabian Marozsan started the year by reaching Round-3 at the Australian Open and Round of 16 in Rotterdam and Qatar. Since then, the 25-year-old Hungarian has had a bit of a French chink in his armour – losing to Mpetshi Perricard at Indian Wells and to Monfils in Miami and Monte Carlo. Marozsan’s outing in Bavaria is his best performance of 2025. He has beaten Engel, No. 4 seed Humbert and Bergs to reach the final four.

It has been a great tournament for World No. 77 Fabian Marozsan so far. However, beating Alexander Zverev on his home turf, that too on a surface where he has excelled for years now, is a mammoth task. After all, the German is one of only three players to ever defeat Rafael Nadal on the hallowed dirt of Roland Garros. Expect Zverev to prevail and enter the summit clash.
