Roland Garros 2025 Men’s Entry List: Carlos Alcaraz to Defend Title, Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner Set to Feature

The tournament is set to take place between 25 May and 8 June.

The preliminary entry list for the 2025 Roland Garros Championships was released on Tuesday. While the ATP’s top players continue to fight it out for the seeded positions, the list of players who will feature in the main draw has been confirmed. And yes, it does feature the defending champion Carlos Alcaraz as well as the returning Jannik Sinner.

The 2025 Roland Garros Championships will take place between May 25 to June 8, 2025. It is the second major of the year, and the only one that takes place on the red dirt. Spanish legend Rafael Nadal is the most decorated athlete at this tournament – with 14 French Open crowns. However, 2025 will mark the first Roland Garros in the post-Nadal era.

Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic and Others Feature in Roland Garros 2025 Entry List

Newly crowned World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz, who currently holds the Coupe des Mousquetaires, has signed up to become a two-time champion at the French capital. The 21-year-old has won at least one Grand Slam every year between 2022-2024. Provided he can perform well at buildup events such as Barcelona, Madrid and Rome, ‘Carlitos’ will confirm a No. 2 seeding which prevents him from running into the World No. 1 until the final.

After a three month break from the game, World No. 1 and reigning Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner will return for the French Open. Although the Italian will only be able to play one big tournament before the Slam (Rome), he has everything in his weaponry to outplay the field. The 2023 champion Novak Djokovic, two-time finalist Casper Ruud, powerhouses Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz, and outer track runners Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev will also feature.

Meanwhile, four players will enter Roland Garros by virtue of using their protected rankings – Reilly Opelka, Emil Ruusuvuori, Jenson Brooksby and Sebastian Ofner. The last player who has earned automatic entry is Hugo Dellien. The likes of Luca Nardi, Chun-Hsin Tseng and Alexander Shevchenko are just outside the cut. Matteo Berrettini and Kei Nishikori were the two former Grand Slam finalists without a seeding, at the time when the entry list was released.
