First in NFL History – Los Angeles Rams Shift Their 2025 NFL Draft Base To Honor LAFD

Rams take unique approach for this year's draft location

As we inch closer and closer to the draft, teams are busy finalizing their plans for the 3-day event by going over their needs and the players they would like to draft. One team in particular, the Los Angeles Rams are busy making arrangements for a unique draft location. Ever since the pandemic struck, the Rams have been conducting their draft from large and luxurious mansions turned into sponsored content studios.

This year, though, the Rams will be taking a different approach as they will hold their draft operations from the Los Angeles Fire Department Air Operations center in honor of the firefighters who put their lives at risk during the deadly wildfires that took place earlier this year in January.

The LAFD will convert a room in their building from where general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay will make the picks, while an adjacent hangar will be converted into a war room for the staff, coaches, scouts, and media members. This arrangement will be functional for all three days of the draft and the Rams will be working with Zillow to make this happen.

Why Are the Rams Taking This Unique Approach?

As mentioned previously, the main motive behind this move is to honor the first responders who battled the difficult wildfires that caused severe damage to structures and burned over 50,000 acres of land. LAFD’s firefighters put their lives in danger as they fought bravely to contain the fires.

Team president Kevin Demoff, during his statement, shed further light on why the Rams have taken this step. The aim has always been to bring the city together in order to ease the recovery process.

“Drafting from LAFD Air Operations is a powerful reminder of what it means to represent Los Angeles. Since the wildfires devastated our region in January, we have looked to bring LA Together to support recovery efforts and shine a light on our first responders. We’re humbled to partner with LAFD during one of the NFL’s biggest moments.”

Working in collaboration with Zillow, the Rams will also help in renovating the recreation room as well as provide new recliners, which the firefighters can make use of for relaxation during their downtime. Furthermore, the fans will also have a chance to get in on the action and make their contributions by purchasing custom-made LAFD x Rams merchandise. All the earnings will be donated to the LAFD Foundation and the American Red Cross.
