UFC 314 main card results: Intense matchups, elite performances, and unforgettable moments inside the Octagon!
The UFC returned to Miami last night with a stacked card that had fans buzzing. UFC 314 delivered on its promise of excitement with spectacular finishes and technical battles that kept the crowd at Kaseya Center on their feet! Fight fans were treated to a night where former champions looked to reclaim glory, rising stars aimed to cement their place, and Bellator veterans tested themselves against UFC competition. The event showcased why MMA continues to captivate audiences worldwide with its blend of technical skill and raw emotion.
With Alexander Volkanovski headlining in his quest to reclaim the featherweight title vacated by Ilia Topuria’s move to lightweight, the stakes couldn’t have been higher. The co-main event featured the long-awaited clash between Michael Chandler and the ever-popular Paddy Pimblett. Add in the UFC debut of Bellator legend Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire against Yair Rodriguez, and fans were in for a treat. Let us break down how each of these compelling matchups played out when the octagon door closed.
Former champion Alexander Volkanovski reclaimed his throne with a unanimous decision victory over Diego Lopes in a five-round war. Volk showed his championship experience early, breaking Lopes’ balance in the first round with powerful combinations. The second round saw more technical striking from both men, with Volkanovski maintaining control through superior footwork.

However, the fight’s momentum shifted in the fourth when Lopes connected with a devastating uppercut that had Volkanovski backpedaling. The Australian weathered the storm and came back strong in the final round to secure the win. All three judges scored the bout in Volkanovski’s favor, returning the vacant featherweight belt to its former owner. Volkanovski became the first fighter above 35 years old in the lighter weight classes to get the belt!
The Liverpool star Paddy Pimblett scored the biggest win of his career by finishing Michael Chandler in the third round. After a competitive first round where Chandler’s wrestling gave Pimblett problems, the tide turned in round two when Pimblett secured dominant positions on the ground.

The finish came in the third when Pimblett landed a perfectly timed jumping knee that opened a nasty cut on Chandler. From there, ‘The Baddy’ swarmed with ground strikes, forcing the referee to step in at 3:07 of the round. The win moves Pimblett to a perfect 7-0 in the UFC and likely launches him into the lightweight division’s top 10. He also called for a fight against the top 4 of the lightweight division.
Yair Rodriguez spoiled Patricio Freire’s UFC debut with a clean sweep on the scorecards. Rodriguez’s striking proved too much for the former Bellator double champion, as he consistently beat Freire to the punch throughout their three-round affair.

The third round featured the most action, with Yair Rodriguez scoring a knockdown that had Freire in serious trouble. Though Freire attempted a late comeback with a tight armbar attempt, Rodriguez escaped and even hunted for his own submission before the final horn. All three judges scored it 30-27 for Rodriguez, who bounced back impressively from his title loss last year. The Mexican then called for an immediate title shot with the winner of Volkanovski vs. Lopes (he revealed that Hunter Campbell had promised him the shot).
Brazilian striker Jean Silva made quick work of Bryce Mitchell, submitting the grappling specialist with a ninja choke in the second round. Silva dominated the striking exchanges in round one, even landing a spinning back kick to Mitchell’s head. In round two, Silva dropped Mitchell with a right hand before allowing him to stand, showcasing his confidence.

When Mitchell desperately shot for a takedown, Silva locked in the rarely-seen ninja choke. This forced Bryce Mitchell to tap at 3:52 of the round. Silva remains undefeated in the UFC at 5-0 and called for a top-10 opponent in his post-fight interview!
Former title challenger Dominick Reyes continued his career comeback with a spectacular first-round knockout of Nikita Krylov. After both fighters exchanged early, Reyes timed a perfect check with a left hook as Krylov charged forward, dropping him instantly at just 2:24 of the opening round. This was reminiscent of the Jose Aldo- Conor McGregor fight.

The win gives Reyes back-to-back knockouts since ending his three-fight losing streak. This win puts him right back in the light heavyweight title conversation. For Krylov, the loss snaps his momentum after winning four of his previous five fights.
