Yan Xiaonan is all set to clash with Virna “Carcara” Jandiroba at UFC 314. Both of them will be competing under the UFC Women’s Strawweight Division at UFC 314: Volkanovski vs Lopes on April 12, 2025. Both Yan Xiaonan as well as Virna Jandiroba are known for being veteran women’s strawweight MMA fighters in their career so far, with the latter being a former champion herself.

These two veteran fighters will now face off inside the Octagon to find out who is the better women’s strawweight MMA fighter in the UFC. Notably, both of them have also risen through the ranks and are amongst the top three in the UFC Women’s Strawweight Division so far.

Yan Xiaonan’s MMA Journey

Hailing from Shenyang, Liaoning, China, Yan Xiaonan is no stranger to the world of mixed martial arts (MMA). Her early MMA career was for promotions like Road Fighting Championship (Road FC) in Seoul, South Korea. She gained her MMA experience there in her early years before setting her sights on the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Yan Xiaonan first made her professional appearance in UFC at UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs Gastelum on November 25, 2017 and beat Kailin Curran.

Yan Xiaonan has gone on to enjoy a six fight win-streak in her career, including her debut fight in the UFC. More recently, she also went on to earn a Performance of the Night honor by defeating Jessica Andrade at UFC 288: Sterling vs Cejudo on May 6, 2023. She presently finds herself as #1 in the UFC Women’s Strawweight Division and has also gained a 19-4-0 in her career so far.

Virna Jandiroba’s MMA Journey

Virna “Carcara” Jandiroba has already made several achievements in her MMA career even before she joined UFC. Originally from Serrinha, Bahia, Brazil, she is notable for her earlier MMA career with Invicta Fighting Championships (Invicta FC). She gained two Performance of the Night honors during her tenure in the promotion. More importantly, she has also been a former Invicta FC Women’s Strawweight Champion. Virna Jandiroba finally made her UFC debut with an unfortunate loss against Carla Esparza at UFC Fight Night: Jacare vs Hermasson on April 27, 2019.
