With Champions League aspirations on their minds, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest face off on Saturday. Villa welcome Nottingham at Villa Park in the Premier League. Both teams enter the match on the back of respective wins. Villa had a dominant 3-0 win against Brighton in their last game.

Whereas, Nottinham are riding high after edging past Manchester United narrowly credit to an Anthony Elanga solo goal. Unai Emery’s men are on a six-game winning streak across all competitions. They are also boasting a 14-game unbeaten streaks in home Premier League fixtures. 

The top four spot in the league is still up for grabs. Hence, Villa’s push for a Champions League berth next season hinges on their continued home wins. On the other hand, Nottingham are in strong form themselves. They currently have a five-game winning streak. 

Additionally, they’re also preparing for an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City. Even so, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are struggling defensively on the road. They’ve conceded heavily in their recent away matches. The reverse fixture of this one saw Nottingham edge Villa 2-1.

Added to these, both teams dealing with key injuries, the Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest match becomes more interesting.

Morgan Rogers picked up a late knock during Villa’s recent win against Brighton, so he’s a doubt against Nottinham. However, Unai Emery can rely on Donyell Malen and Marco Asensio in the final third. Both players were recently on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, Ross Barkley has returned to training recovering from a knee injury, so he may be available. There’s a chance that Leon Bailey could also return after recovering from a knock. Villa’s attacking depth remains strong as they aim to extend their impressive unbeaten home streak in the league.

Chris Wood remains a doubt for Nottinham with a hip injury which he sustained during his international duty. Callum Hudson-Odoi missed their win against Man United for personal reasons. However, he is expected to be back for this game. 

Ola Aina is also sidelined after suffering a calf injury in the midweek. Additionally, Alex Moreno is also ineligible to face his parent club. This leavs Nuno Espirito Santo with limited full-back options. Either Harry Toffolo or Morato could fill in for Nottinham.
