Jessica Pegula vs. Danielle Collins Head to Head Record, Preview and Prediction for Charleston Open 2025 Quarterfinal

Sankalp Harikrishnan

Two former Grand Slam finalists clash for a spot in the final four.

Top seed Jessica Pegula takes on defending champion Danielle Collins in a David vs Goliath style quarterfinal at the Charleston Open on Friday. The two players are in top form at the moment, and haven’t dropped a set at the tournament thus far. Here’s all you need to know about their rivalry.

Jessica Pegula and Danielle Collins have faced each other on numerous occasions in the past. And while Collins has the superior service game winning ratio on this surface (77.6% as opposed to 67.5% last year), it is World No. 4 Pegula who starts as the favourite. Following the exit of second seed Madison Keys in the Round of 16, the door is wide open for both players to get their hands on the coveted trophy at home.

It was a disappointing end to the Sunshine events for both Pegula and Collins. While the 2024 US Open finalist lost yet again to Aryna Sabalenka in the Miami Open final, Collins was slayed in the Round of 16 by the same opponent. They were coincidentally also beaten by the same player at Indian Wells in consecutive rounds – Elina Svitolina.

Jessica Pegula vs. Danielle Collins Head to Head Record

Jessica Pegula currently dominates the head to head record against Danielle Collins 5-0. The former Australian Open runner-up has won only one out of a possible ten sets against her marginally younger compatriot.

Jessica Pegula and Danielle Collins came face to face for the first time in the qualifying rounds in Midland, way back in 2012. The fifth seed back then, Pegula dominated the encounter. Their Montreal 2021 Round of 16 bout was the only occasion where neither of them were seeded – this also happened to be the closest tussle between the two champion players.
