Liverpool vs Everton Premier League Fixture – Injury News, Match Preview and Predicted Line-Ups

Moumita Dutta

League leaders Liverpool have won 17 of their last 19 matches at Anfield.

Liverpool will host Everton at home in the Merseyside derby. In their second league meeting in two months, the two teams find themselves in completely different situations. Liverpool, the league leaders, hold a nine-point lead over second-placed Arsenal despite having played one game less. They will be eager to maintain their grip on the title.

Meanwhile, Everton, sitting in 15th position in the league table, will be fighting to stay above of the relegation zone. Everton managed to earn a 2-2 draw in the first fixture of this clash. The draw, in which both teams received a red card, did little to derail Liverpool’s title charge.

Despite a tough stretch before the international break, where they exited both the Champions League and EFL Cup, Liverpool remain in control of the Premier League title race. They are currently boast an impressive home record. They’ve won 17 of their last 19 matches at Anfield. Everton, under David Moyes, have been resilient as well.

They are enjoying a nine-match unbeaten streak in the league. However, they have struggled to turn draws into wins. 13 of their 29 league matches have ended in draws. Even though Everton’s form has improved, the records say that the odds are in Liverpool’s favour. The Reds are now unbeaten in their last 26 home league derbies.

Liverpool are dealing with multiple injuries at right-back, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, and Conor Bradley all sidelined. Goalkeeper Alisson and midfielder Ryan Gravenberch withdrew from international duty but are expected to return soon.

In attack, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and Darwin Nunez have faced criticism for recent performances, yet one of them is likely to start alongside Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo. Federico Chiesa’s EFL Cup final goal may not be enough to earn him a starting spot, with Arne Slot set to keep faith in his usual front line.

Liverpool probable starting lineup:

Alisson; Robertson, Van Dijk, Konate, Quansah; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Gakpo, Diaz, Salah

Vitalii Mykolenko remains doubtful with a thigh injury sustained during international duty. Up front, Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains out, but Armando Broja, having returned before the break and featured for Albania, could provide competition for Beto in attack.
