UFC Fight Night: Kape vs. Almabayev Results: Who Won The UFC Fights Last Night?

Zaid Quraishi

Get to know the results of UFC Fight Night: Kape vs. Almabayev main card and the prelims as well as the bonus recipients!

The intimate venue in Las Vegas creates a unique atmosphere. Fighters can hear their corners clearly without thousands of screaming fans. This setting often produces technical masterpieces or explosive finishes. Last night’s UFC Fight Night delivered both in spades.

The matchup between Manel Kape and Asu Almabayev had been brewing for months. Both flyweights entered with impressive win streaks. Kape was riding high after his December victory over Bruno Silva. Almabayev brought a stunning 4-fight winning streak in the UFC into the Octagon. With title implications clearly on the line, both men knew what was at stake.

UFC Fight Night: Kape vs. Almabayev Main Event Result

In the main event, Manel ‘Starboy’ Kape proved why he is a serious title contender. From the opening bell, Kape’s speed and striking accuracy gave Almabayev fits. The Kazakh fighter repeatedly tried to change the dynamic with takedown attempts, but Kape’s defense held strong. Through two rounds, Kape landed the more impactful shots while keeping the fight standing, exactly where he wanted it.

Things came to a dramatic head in the third round when Almabayev complained about an eye poke that referee Mike Beltran didn’t see. Kape, ever the opportunist, swarmed his opponent with a flurry of strikes that forced Beltran to step in at 2:16 of the round. The TKO victory likely punches Kape’s ticket to a title shot, marking his sixth win in seven UFC appearances. In his post-fight interview, Kape made it clear he believes he’s next in line for championship gold.

UFC Fight Night: Kape vs. Almabayev Main Card Results

The co-main event delivered all the fireworks fans expected between Cody Brundage and Julian Marquez. These former training partners wasted no time getting down to business in a one-round brawl. Both fighters landed heavy shots that knocked out each other’s mouthpieces at one point.

Just when the round seemed destined to end, Brundage connected with a thunderous right hand that sent Marquez crashing to the canvas at 4:45 of the first round. For Brundage, this victory provides a much-needed career boost!

Earlier on the main card, fans were treated to what might be an early Fight of the Month candidate between Nasrat Haqparast and Esteban Ribovics. For 15 minutes, these lightweights put on a striking clinic. Haqparast started strong with crisp boxing and punishing body kicks that bloodied Ribovics early.

The Argentine fighter rallied in the second round and landed a beautiful stepping knee in the third that damaged Haqparast’s face. When the dust settled, Haqparast earned his fifth consecutive win via split decision and boldly called out Renato Moicano.

Another thrilling contest saw undefeated Hyder Amil overcome a slow start against William Gomis to earn a split decision victory. Gomis looked sharp early with superior technique, but Amil’s relentless forward pressure eventually wore down the Frenchman. The win pushes Amil to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in the UFC. Sam Patterson continued his welterweight renaissance with a spectacular first-round knockout of previously undefeated Danny Barlow.

UFC Fight Night: Kape vs. Almabayev Preliminary Card Results

The preliminary card was capped by a highlight-reel knockout when UFC newcomer Mario Pinto flattened former NFL defensive lineman Austen Lane. After a rough first round where Lane dropped him, Pinto rebounded with a picture-perfect right hand that ended the fight just 39 seconds into round two.

Other prelim standouts included “Machine Gun” Chepe Mariscal, who pushed his UFC record to a perfect 5-0 with a dominant decision over Ricardo Ramos. In the flyweight division, Ramazan Temirov likely earned himself a ranking after defeating 12th-ranked Charles Johnson.

Danny Silva edged out a decision victory against Lucas Almeida in the featherweight division. Veteran fighter JJ Aldrich handed Andrea Lee her record-setting sixth consecutive defeat.
