The entire world knows what happened last night for the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes. They were utterly humiliated in the Super Bowl by the Philadelphia Eagles and Mahomes had the worst game of his career. Prior to the Super Bowl, many fans and analysts such as Stephen A. Smith claimed that Mahomes would be the GOAT if he beats the Eagles and three-peats. Unfortunately that did not happen, and the game was not even close. The Eagles held Mahomes and the Chiefs to 0 points until late in the third quarter.

Mahomes was sacked 6 times in the game and also threw a pick-six to Cooper DeJean. At one point, Mahomes had been sacked more, than the Chiefs had first downs! It was an atrocious performance by their QB1 and he was simply outclassed by Jalen Hurts and the Eagles. Everybody on this planet betted on Mahomes and look where it got them. The Eagles locked up their entire offense and Steve Spagnuolo could learn a thing or two from them.

Let us also talk about Andy Reid and how helpless he looked on the field. He had no answer for the Eagles and we did not see any adjustments, even after being down 24 points in the half, from Reid. The Eagles simply were more hungrier and showed that they are the far superior team.

With a defense like the one that the Eagles played yesterday, it did not matter who or how great the opposition’s quarterback was. Nobody could have beaten Philadelphia yesterday. Mahomes is now 3-2 in terms of his Super Bowl record. Even though many may have dismissed him as the GOAT already, he has much more in common with Tom Brady than you think. Let’s find out what that is.

A Brutal Super Bowl performance for Mahomes but we have seen this before

No, we’re not talking about Mahomes’ performance against the Patriots in 2020, even though that wasn’t pretty to watch either. We’re talking about how Tom Brady, the undisputed GOAT, blew a perfect season. Brady and the Patriots were undefeated in the 2007-08 regular season but lost to the New York Giants in the Super Bowl. Brady threw for 266 yards, a passing touchdown, was sacked 5 times, and fumbled the ball once. The Patriots lost by 3 points against the Giants and blew a perfect season which has only been achieved once by the Dolphins in 1972.

In similar fashion, Mahomes also blew a 3-peat and had one of his worst games in the most important game of the season. However, Brady went on to win 4 more Super Bowls after that and was named the NFL GOAT. Which brings us to our point that Mahomes may have lost the Super Bowl but he still has a long career ahead of him as he’s only 29 years of age. He’s on a similar path as Tom Brady, and who knows? Mahomes may win a lot more championships in the future. So don’t give up on him just yet. But for now, Brady still remains the undisputed GOAT.

What is Tom Brady’s Super Bowl record?

Tom Brady has 10 Super Bowl appearances and he won 7 Super Bowl titles but lost 3 of them. He lost against the Giants, two times, in Super Bowl 42 and 46, and lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 52. Eli Manning always gave Brady the work as he snatched two Super Bowls away from him. Now, Mahomes and Hurts could be the next big rivalry as they are both 1-1 in the Super Bowl, against each other.
