Storms to reportedly trade Jewell Loyd to Aces in a multi-team move sending Kelsey Plum to Sparks

Loyd averaged 19.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game in previous season.

The Seattle Storm are reportedly trading six-time All Star Jewell Loyd to the Las Vegas Aces in a multi-year deal which will send Kelsey Plum to the Los Angeles Sparks. The 31-year-old will join the Aces after spending her first 10 WNBA seasons in Seattle. The former Rookie of the Year has made an All-Star team in each of the last four seasons and six in the last seven.

She will join the Aces, the 2022 and 2023 WNBA champions, and 2024 semifinalists. During her stay with the Storms in the last season, Loyd averaged 19.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists.

According to ESPN, the multi-team deal will send Plum, the three-time All-Star, to the Sparks.

Plum, who starred collegiately at Washington has been in trade rumors for quite some weeks. The 30-year-old has been a key player for the Aces’ championship teams and made it to the All-Star team in each of the last three seasons.

Playing her seven seasons, Plum has been associated with the Aces, which includes the 2017 season when they were associated with the San Antonio Stars before relocating. In the previous season, she averaged at 17.8 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.6 rebounds.

Loyd had signed a two-year supermax extension with Seattle in September 2023, and had one year left according to it. However, she requested for a trade just three months later, in December. According to the media, Loyd filed the complaint, following which an investigation was conducted by an outside firm.

However, post investigation, the Storm said in a statement “there were no findings of policy violations or any discrimination, harassment, or bullying.”
