Here's a look at what happened in NBA on Friday, Jan. 24.

Here are the highlights of the NBA matches for January 24, 2025, where a total of three games were played. From Ty Jerome’s career-high score of 33 points, to the 76ers ending their seven-game losing streak, fans witnessed thrilling action on the courts across three venues on Friday night. 

On the other hand, the Trail Blazers and Grizzlies extended their win runs to four and five games, respectively. Let us go through the match highlights of the three games that were played on Friday. 

Blazers 102-97 Hornets

The Portland Trail Blazers secured their fourth straight win as they took down the Charlotte Hornets 102-97. Anfernee Simons recorded a game-high 27 points along with 5 rebounds and 2 assists, which was followed by Jerami Grant’s 22 points to guide the side to a comfortable win. 

The Trail Blazers put on a solid defensive effort and recorded a back-to-back win after they defeated Orlando 101-79 on Thursday. For the Hornets, Nick Smith Jr. scored 17 points and had six assists, whereas Mark Williams scored 15 points with nine rebounds and three assists. 

76ers 132-129 Cavaliers

The second game of the night saw the Philadelphia 76ers putting ending their seven-game losing streak as they defeat Eastern Conference leaders the Cleveland Cavaliers 132-129. 

It was the Cavaliers’ second straight loss as they drop to 36-8 this season.  

Donovan Mitchell led the score sheet with 37 points and added three rebounds and seven assists. Ty Jerome had a career-high night with 33 points, three rebounds and three assists but they failed to overcome a short-handed 76ers.

Meanwhile, Paul George starred for the hosts, contributing with 30 points and received good support from Tyrese Maxey and Kelly Oubre Jr who drilled 29 and 22 points, respectively.

Grizzlies 139-126 Pelicans

In the third and the final encounter of Friday night, the Grizzlies extended their winning streak to five games as they took down the New Orleans Pelicans 139-126 at FedEx Forum. Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 29 points with 5 rebounds and 7 assists while Luke Kennard closely followed him with 27 points, three rebounds and six assists. 

Kennard made 7 from 9 3-pointers and 10 from 14 overall shots from the field. While Pelican’s scoresheet was led by Dejounte Murray with his 26 points. Trey Murphy III and CJ McCollum scored 22 points each.
