The Golden State Warriors clashed against the Sacramento Kings in one of the fiercest rivalries in the NBA Rivals Week on Wednesday, January 22. The two teams have been in postseason battles, including the play-in tournament and the playoffs. 

The Warriors, sitting in the 11th spot of the Western Conference standings, were on the back of an embarrassing 125-85 defeat at the hands of the Boston Celtics on Monday. It was the Warriors’ worst loss at home for the first time in forty years.

While the Warriors aimed to turn things around, the Kings dominated the court and handed them a close 123-117 defeat. The Warriors, sitting in the 11th spot on the Western Conference standings, are going through a rough patch off late. After beginning the season with a strong 12-3 record, they have had their fair share of struggles. 

The Celtics’ loss pushed the Warriors to a 5-5 tally in their last 10 games, and now maintain a tally of 21-22. On the other hand, the Kings maintained a solid record of 9-1 in their last 10 games, and are now at 23-20. 

Forward Andrew Wiggins added 25 points with six rebounds and three assists, followed by Buddy Hield’s 17-pointer performance. The Warriors definitely felt the absence of veteran player Draymond King, who was sidelined after a calf strain in the Wizards’ game

Stephen Curry’s game stats vs. Kings

Star guard Stephen Curry, who scored 18 points and added three rebounds and four assists vs the Celtics, finished the night with 14 points, three rebounds and 11 assists, which didn’t help the Warriors much as they extended their losing streak.
