Eric Divakaran

Know all about Renato Moicano, the fighter who stepped up to face Islam Makhachev on short notice!

Renato Moicano, is replacing Arman Tsarukyan for the main event of the UFC 311. Tsarukyan pulled out at the last moment and announced that he is dealing with back injuries. Islam Makhachev will still fight but will go against the Brazilian. Moicano is coming in with a 20-5-1 record, meanwhile Makhachev 26-1-0 record.

Moicano is arriving hot. He almost had a perfect year in 2024, winning 3 fights in which he was dominant. He easily won the Drew Dober fight, after which he won another fight going against Jalin Turner, and his last octagon appearance was when he went against Benoit Saint Denis. Each victory was better than the other and remained dominant.

Moicano has been overlooked by many. He has a decent record but has always come short of being included in “Title Contender” conversation or being in the top 5. However, here is his chance, to prove why he belongs in the conversation.

Islam Makhachev, on the other hand, is all about winning. He has won almost all of the fights and even the best of the best, have no answer for him. We’re talking about Dustin Poirier, Alexander Volkanovksi, Charles Oliveira, King Green, have all fallen before him. The chance to win for Moicano is slim.

However, according to UFC.com, Moicano has stated that he “Cannot afford to lose.

He continued by saying “If I take him down, and I will, I will stay on the top and he’s not going to sweep me or anything or finish me. If he takes me down, I’m gonna get up and do what I need to do, which is beat him. I think he’s well rounded, but I cannot afford to lose and that’s the reality. I’m not losing. I want money. If I lose, it’s just half a check. I want the full check.”

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
