The UFC light heavyweight division has been a wild ride lately, full of unexpected twists and turns. After Alex Pereira knocked out Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 in spectacular fashion, the division got even more interesting. Hill, still nursing his wounded pride from that loss, hasn’t stopped talking about getting another shot at Pereira.

The former champion has been so vocal about wanting revenge that he has practically turned it into his personal mission statement. This brings fans to this weekend’s crucial matchup at UFC 311, where Hill will go against Jiri Prochazka.

Jiri Prochazka’s Message To Jamahal Hill

The samurai-spirited former champion with a record of 30-5-1 is not too pleased with Jamahal Hill’s one-track mind. During the UFC 311 media day, Prochazka dropped some wisdom for Hill. He believed that focusing on Pereira instead of the opponent right in front is a recipe for disaster.

“I would just say that it is a big mistake when you are not focused on what’s before you, and you’re looking at another opponent. It will cost you a lot…I don’t speak about other opponents, about who will be the next. Even if I did say I want to fight Alex Pereira for a third time because I believe in myself and the changes in my style.”

Prochazka has got a point. He has been around the block and knows a thing or two about championship mentality. Sure, he would love another crack at Pereira himself (third time), but he is currently zeroed in on Jamahal Hill.

The contrast between their approaches is striking. While Hill (12-2-0, 1 NC) keeps looking over the horizon at Pereira, even typing to pick a fight with him at the UFC PI, Prochazka is locked in on the task at hand, ready to send Hill’s revenge plans back to the drawing board.

The stakes couldn’t be higher for both fighters this Saturday night. Whoever wins likely gets a shot at the title in 2025, while the loser gets shoved to the back of the line. And if Magomed Ankalaev is passed over again, the winner of these two is sure to face Alex Pereira again.
