Alex Pereira, The Ultimate Friend: How Poatan Has Avenged Glover Teixeira’s Losses Inside the Octagon

Zaid Quraishi

Alex Pereira’s UFC path led him to avenge Glover Teixeira’s losses, forging a bond in friendship and struggle!

In the sport of blood and violence, few friendships shine as bright as the bond between Glover Teixeira and Alex Pereira. When the veteran fighter took young Alex under his wing, no one could have predicted how their story would unfold.

Pereira, now the UFC light heavyweight champion, has done something remarkable. He has systematically avenged his mentor’s losses in a remarkable fashion. This student honored his teacher in the most spectacular way possible.

Defeating Jiri Prochazka

Jiri Prochazka snatched the title from Glover Teixeira in that back-and-forth war at UFC 275. It was a heartbreaker that ended with a last-minute submission. Fast forward to UFC 295, and there’s Alex Pereira standing across from Prochazka.

The fight didn’t last long. Alex Pereira unleashed his infamous left hook, and just like that, Prochazka’s lights went out. The same man who had taken Glover’s title now fell victim to Glover’s protege. Sweet revenge was served ice-cold in the second round!

Defeating Jamahal Hill

The most recent chapter in this revenge tour came at UFC 300. Prochazka had to vacate the title due to an injury. And Jamahal Hill and Glover Teixeira fought for the belt. ‘Sweet Dreams’ had dominated Glover in their title fight at UFC 283, leading to Teixeira’s retirement.

But when Hill stepped in against Alex Pereira, it was a different story. ‘Poatan’ didn’t just win. he put on a striking clinic that ended with Hill face-down on the canvas in the first round in the main event of UFC 300. The student had completed the trilogy of revenge, taking out the last man to defeat his mentor.

What makes this story special isn’t just the wins,  it’s how Pereira carries himself. After each victory, he always credits Teixeira first. He is not out there talking trash or gloating about revenge. Instead, he shows the same humble attitude his mentor is known for. In the gym, fans can still find him taking instruction from the retired champion, proving that even champions never stop learning.

Glover Teixeira ‘Stuns’ Alex Pereira In Latest Power Slap Skit

Life after retirement seems pretty fun for Glover Teixeira, especially when he gets to “slap” around the UFC light heavyweight champion. The former champ has been keeping busy in his Connecticut gym, coaching his star pupil, Alex Pereira. But recently, they took a break from their serious training to film something that had fight fans rolling with laughter.

In a hilarious video, Teixeira and Pereira decided to put their own spin on Power Slap, Dana White’s latest combat sports venture. The setup was simple. Alex Pereira stood there looking tough as always, hands behind his back, while his mentor lined up the perfect slap.

This little moment of levity comes at an interesting time for Pereira. While he’s waiting for his next opponent (and allegedly dodging calls from Magomed Ankalaev), it’s refreshing to see him letting loose. The man they call ‘Poatan’ might have dynamite in his hands, but he’s showing fans he has a pretty good sense of humor, too!
