Let's take a look at what happened on Friday in the NBA.

Here’s the NBA Daily Recap for Dec. 27, 2024, where we witnessed 8 matchups. Ahead of the last weekend of the year, all teams pushed for the wins and we saw some quality performances. Players like Donovan Mitchell, Jaylen Brown, Victor Wembanyama and Alperen Şengun delivered top-class performances.

From the Timberwolves snatching a win with a late rally to the Mavericks having the last laugh in the Nurkic-Marshall fight, let’s go through the key highlights from the NBA action on Friday night.

Magic 85-108 Knicks

New York Knicks didn’t allow Orlando Magic to pull off a comeback and extended their winning streak to six games. Jalen Brunson scored 26 points and nine assists, while Josh Hart added 23 points and 13 rebounds. Karl-Anthony Towns chipped in 16 points and eight rebounds and Mikal Bridges had 17 points.

Jalen Suggs scored 27 points for Orlando before leaving due to foul trouble. Goga Bitadze dropped 14 points and 10 rebounds. Magic lost their fifth game in last seven and were outscored by Knicks in rebound 44-32. Orlando are 2-4 in last six home games after winning first 10. Both teams were tied at halftime but Knicks dominated the second half 54-31.

Nets 87-96 Spurs

San Antonio Spurs moved on from Christmas defeat with a low-scoring win over Brooklyn Nets. Victor Wembanyama added 19 points, seven rebounds and six blocks. Victor recorded at least one 3-pointer and at least one block for the 22nd straight game. Jeremy Sochan racked up 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Spurs, who ended a two-game skid. Julian Champagnie added 18 points, and Keldon Johnson had 15 points.

Brooklyn was led by Keon Johnson with a game-high 25 points and Shake Milton had 16 points and 12 assists. Both sides were tied on 41 at halftime and Nets had a two-point lead in the third. Wembanyama led Spurs in third quarter with 11 points and Spurs had a 22-9 run to take a 74-62 lead. Nets dropped their ninth in 12 games and fell to 12-19 in the East.

Celtics 142-105 Pacers

Jaylen Brown notched up a season-high 44 points and the Boston Celtics routed Indiana Pacers to halt a two-game skid. Jayson Tatum had 22 points and 13 rebounds. Brown, who also had four steals joined Larry Bird and Antoine Walker with at least 44 points and four steals in a game. Boston never trailed in the game and limited Indiana to 28% from beyond the arc.

Payton Pritchard led Pacers with 18 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds. Tyrese Haliburton added 19 points and nine assists, while Bennedict Mathurin chipped in 18 points. Pascal Siakam had 14 points and nine rebounds. Celtics handed second straight loss to Indiana, who had a season-best five-game winning streak last week. .

Nuggets 135-149 Cavaliers

Cavaliers continued their domination in the NBA with a win over Denver Nuggets in a high-scoring affair. Donovan Mitchell scored 33 points, and Evan Mobley added 26 for Cleveland’s sixth straight win. MVP holder, Nikola Jokic dropped his NBA-leading 12th triple-double of the season with 27 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists. Jamal Murray contributed 27 with 10 assists for Denver, who lost two in a row.

Cleveland scored 16 straight points in the second quarter to turn the three-point deficit to 15-point lead at the halftime. Caves maintained their lead throughout the game. Michael Porter Jr. scored 13 of his 18 points in first quarter but Nuggets lost the control in the second quarter. Caves now improved to 27-4 and maintain their top spot in the East.

Clippers 102-92 Warriors

Norman Powell scored 24 points and Los Angeles Clippers overcame Steph Curry-less Warriors to win fourth of their last five games. James Harden chipped in 18 points and seven assists while Ivica Zubac added 17 points and 11 rebounds. Jonathan Kuminga added a career-high 34 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for the Warriors, who dropped third game against Clippers this season.

Clippers had a 49-43 lead at half-time and they outscored Warriors 32-19 in the third. Golden State pulled off a comeback through 23-9 surge and cut the deficit to three points in fourth. A 12-7 run in the end assured a close win for the Clippers. Warriors are 3-12 in their last 15 games and drooped third straight game.
