2025 WNBA Draft – What is the WNBA Draft Order for 2025?

The WNBA draft order is full of chaos with numerous draft pick trades taking place after the 2024 season!

The 2025 WNBA draft is now less than a week away. This year the draft will be held at The Shed at Hudson Yards in Manhattan, New York on Monday, April 14, 2025. The entire draft will be broadcast by ESPN from 7:30 p.m. ET to 9:30 p.m. ET with a countdown show at 7:00 p.m. ET on the ESPN app.

This year’s draft marks the 28th edition of the WNBA draft which first came into existence in 1997. Furthermore, this will also be the first draft for the newest expansion team, the Golden State Valkyries.

The WNBA which now consists of 13 teams will have a total of 38 selections between them from 3 rounds. The Las Vegas Aces will not be drafting in the first round due to the franchise being penalized for violating the WNBA policy. As a result of which, there will be only 12 selections in round one.

2025 WNBA Draft Order

This year, the Dallas Wings have received the number-one overall pick through the draft lottery process. The Wings finished 11th in the 2024 season with a 9-31 record which was just one game better than the 8-32 Los Angeles Sparks. Below is the entire 3-round draft list for the 2025 WNBA draft. Multiple draft pick trades took place following the 2024 WNBA season, leading to numerous changes in the order of the draft.

Top Players To Watch Out for at the 2025 WNBA Draft

The Dallas Wings who hold the first overall pick are widely anticipated to draft Minnesota native Paige Bueckers who played guard for the UConn Women’s basketball team from 2020 to 2025. She led the Huskies to the national championship recently while averaging nearly 20 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 2.1 steals per game during the last season.

Other than Bueckers, other notable players to feature in this draft are Notre Dame guard Sonia Citron, French forward/center Dominique Malonga, LSU forward Aneesah Morrow, and USC forward Kiki Iriafen.

Notre Dame point guard Olivia Miles and LSU guard Flau’Jae Johnson are two prominent players missing from this year’s draft as they have decided to remain in college to make use of NIL deals which are bound to pay them more than the base WNBA salary post the draft.
