Top seed players are struggling at the 2025 Italian Open and this weekend turned out be a nightmare for them. Top players like Holger Rune, Elena Rybakina, and Stefanos Tsitsipas suffered a shocking exit in the Masters 1000 event. It was the toughest weekend for top players on clay court and they couldn’t held the nerves.

Weekend Turns Out to be a Horror Show for Top Seeds in Italian Open

It has been a tough weekend for the top seed players in both men’s and women’s single’s event at the 2025 Italian Open. Earlier, we saw American ace, Jessica Pegula and the former world No. 1, Iga Swiatek getting eliminated in the second round of the Rome Masters. Taylor Fritz and Madison Keys also faced early exit from the Masters 1000 event.

Corentin Moutet Knocks Out Holger Rune

Corentin Moutet held the nerves against Holger Rune in one of the epic clashes of the Italian Open, securing his place in the fourth round of the Masters 1000 event. The battle ran for three hours and 44 minutes and Moutet edged out the No 9 seed, 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (4) for his first career Top-10 win in his 13th attempt.

During Zverev’s match, people on the Center court were watching this clash on Pietrangeli. It becomes becomes the second longest best of three set match at the Italian Open and fourth overall.

Bianca Andreescu Eliminates Elena Rybakina

Elena Rybakina, the No. 11 seed and 2023 champion, suffered a loss in straight sets in the third round. Bianca Andreescu of Canada knocked out the former Wimbledon champion 6-2, 6-4 at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome on Sunday. It was a revenge win for the Canadian ace, who lost to Rybakina in Madrid Open two weeks back.

Arthur Fils Registers Comeback Victory Over Stefanos Tsitsipas

Arthur Fils continued his winning run on the ATP Tour as the Frenchman pulled off a comeback from a set down to defeat Stefanos Tsitsipas 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. The 20-year-old advanced to the fourth round of the Masters 1000 event.

It was Fils’ fourth consecutive win over Tsitsipas. During the post-game handshake, both players involved in a tense exchange.
