Yoane Wissa Deletes All Brentford Content on Social Media in Desperate Attempt

Yoane Wissa’s future has taken another dramatic turn after the forward removed all references to Brentford from his Instagram account. The 28-year-old unfollowed the club, deleted photos related to the Bees, and even changed his profile picture to black. The DR Congo international was left out of Brentford’s 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday and is pushing for a move to Newcastle United.

The Magpies have already seen at least one bid turned down but remain determined to land him before the transfer deadline. With Bryan Mbuemo and Christian Norgaard already departing and Thomas Frank moving on to Tottenham, Brentford face the prospect of losing another key figure from their recent rise. But they are reluctant to let Wissa go cheaply.

Wissa Desperate for Newcastle Move

Wissa’s social media move marks the latest escalation in his standoff with the club. Earlier this summer, he cut short Brentford’s pre-season training camp in Portugal and threatened not to play or train unless the Bees sanctioned his exit. Relations eased slightly when he returned to first-team training, but his intention to join Newcastle has never changed.

The forward believed a transfer was imminent once Brentford secured a replacement. The club did so by signing Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth, raising expectations that Wissa’s move to Tyneside would finally be approved. However, despite originally valuing him at around £40m, Brentford are now reported to be holding out for closer to £60m.

Newcastle see Wissa as a priority attacking target after missing out on several other forwards, and negotiations with Brentford remain ongoing. Tottenham are also monitoring the situation, but Newcastle’s interest is considered the most advanced at this stage.

Since joining Brentford, Wissa has been a reliable presence in attack, scoring 49 goals in 149 appearances. His contribution has been central to the club’s Premier League journey, but with tensions rising, a parting of ways before the transfer deadline looks increasingly possible.
