Yankees Rumors: More Moves on the Horizon?

Charles Taudin

Yankees are not done yet to complete their roster

After missing out on Juan Soto and welcoming Max Fried and Cody Bellinger, the New York Yankees’ offseason might not be over yet.

The winter could still be lively in the Bronx, according to Yankees GM Brian Cashman.

“We’ve done some heavy lifting with Max, with Devin Williams, with Bellinger,” Cashman said, per ESPN’s Jorge Castillo. “But there’s more lifting to do.”

If more additions are expected before Spring Training, where should New York focus its attention?

Another Pitcher in Sight?

The departure of Nestor Cortes to Milwaukee has likely opened the door for a new addition to the rotation.

With Gerrit Cole, Max Fried, Carlos Rodon, and Luis Gil already in place, the Yankees have a solid foundation. However, given the injury history of some pitchers, adding one more arm wouldn’t hurt.

Could the Yankees look to Japan for reinforcements?

According to Jorge Castillo, the Yankees are set to meet with Roki Sasaki in the coming days.

The young Japanese phenom is on the radar of almost every MLB team. The Yankees’ history of successful Japanese players—like Hideki Matsui, Ichiro Suzuki, and Masahiro Tanaka—bolsters their appeal as a destination for Sasaki.

Such a move, likely cost-effective, could have a dual benefit: solidifying the rotation and easing the sting of losing Juan Soto.

Soto’s Departure Still Hurts

Soto’s move to the Mets with a historic 15-year, $765 million contract has left a gaping hole in the hearts of Yankees fans. His impact, both offensively and defensively, was a significant asset to the franchise.

Landing a talent like Sasaki could be a step toward restoring the balance for a fanbase hungry for success.
