WNBA Results, August 26: Alyssa Thomas’ Historic Performance Guides Mercury to Victory, Kelsey Mitchell Creates Franchise Record in Fever’s 20th Win of the Season

The Indiana Fever moved up a spot on the 2025 WNBA standings as they blew the Seattle Storm out. With this, they marked their 20th win of the season, and surpassed the Storm and Golden State on the standings. On the other hand, the Phoenix Mercury recorded their 23rd win of the season as they defeated the Los Angeles Sparks in a thrilling encounter. Action is getting intense everyday as the WNBA regular season is nearing its end and only six spots are left for the playoffs.

Indiana Fever 95-75 Seattle Storm

The Indiana Fever brought their two-game losing skid to the Minnesota Lynx and handed a blowout defeat to the Seattle Storm 95-75. Aliyah Boston led the Fever with 27 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. She was shooting 69.2% from the field and 85.7% from the free-throw line, and during the game, she captured her 1000th rebound of career. Odyssey Sims dropped 22 points, three rebounds and six assists while Kelsey Mitchell chipped in 21 points, and two assists. With this, she set the new single season scoring record with 770+ points.

As a team, Fever grabbed 42 rebounds, and dished out 22 assists. Following the win, they moved to the sixth spot in the standings, surpassing Seattle and Golden State Valkyries.

The Storm, whose three-game winning streak came to an end, had Nneka Ogwumike drop 17 points, and two rebounds. Apart from her, Brittney Sykes was the only player who crossed the 10-point mark. Sykes finished with 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Erica Wheeler poured in six points, three rebounds and one assists and crossed the 3000 career-point mark.

As a unit, the Storm had 21 rebounds and 21 assists.

Phoenix Mercury 92-84 Los Angeles Sparks

The Phoenix Mercury recorded their second straight and fourth win in the last five games as they defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 92-84. Satou Sabally led the Mercury with 19 points, three rebounds and two assists while Kahleah Copper chipped in 18 points, one rebound and three assists. In addition, Alyssa Thomas recorded a historic performance with 12 points, 16 rebounds, and 15 assists. She is the only WNBA player to record at least 10 points, 15 assists and 15 rebounds in a single game. Not only this, but she also recorded her seventh triple-double of the season.

The Sparks, who fell for the 19th loss of the season, were led by Dearica Hamby’s 25 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Rickea Jackson poured in 21 points, three rebounds, and one assist while Kelsey Plum came up with 20 points, and four assists. The Sparks grabbed 29 rebounds, and dished out 19 assists as compared to Mercury’s 32 rebounds and 28 assists.
