An unusual trend has taken over the WNBA by storm these days. Spectators have thrown green s*x objects onto the court in recent games, raising concerns about safety of the players as well as respect for the game. Recently, three matches played on August 5, including the Liberty-Wings clash, the Sun-Mercury clash at the PHX Arena and the Fever-Sparks clash at Crypto.com Arena were marked by strange incidents.

During the Los Angeles game, the object touched Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham before Kelsey Plum kicked it away. Cunningham also took to social media to raise concerns over the gesture. This is not it. During the Dream’s clash against the Valkyries also saw a green object fly onto the court. However, the fan who threw it was later arrested.

As of now, the league has not implemented a ‘no-bag policy’ in WNBA games. The rumors started to circulate all over the internet after Polymarket Sports claimed that the league is banning bags for the Golden State Valkyries’ game against the Las Vegas Aces. The tweet came on August 6. The tweet went viral in no time, starting speculations among fans and media. However, fans need to know that no such policy has come into existence as of now.

There might be differences in regulations based on the arena. While some arenas have clear bag policies, others might have rules for the size of bags. Though the league hasn’t taken any action as of now, an increase in the number of such incidents might compel them to take action.
