Will Tom Brady continue his NFL commentary career despite Las Vegas Raiders ownership?

Swati Bhatia

Tom Brady will join other legendary athletes like Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson in owning a piece of a team.

NFL’s legendary quarterback, Tom Brady, has officially become a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

The former New England Patriots star was approved as a minority owner of the Raiders at Tuesday’s NFL fall owners meeting in Atlanta.

The NFL’s finance committee reviewed Brady’s bid and presented it to the league’s owners for a vote at the NFL fall owners’ meeting.

Brady, who retired in 2023 after a stellar career that included seven Super Bowl victories, takes 5% control of the Raiders alongside businessman Tom Wagner.

Will Tom Brady’s commentary stint come to an end?

Brady is now part of the Raiders, which adds to his plans after retirement. He has a $375 million contract with Fox to be an analyst for 10 years, starting in 2024.

But with him becoming a minority owner of the Raiders, can he still do NFL commentary for Fox?

The answer is yes but with restrictions.

As the newest minority owner of the Raiders, Brady would not be allowed to enter another team’s facility, watch practice, or attend production meetings, which analysts and commentators often do before each game.

However, while Brady himself can’t attend these meetings, his entire production team can.

This essentially provides Brady with an alternative way to access information despite being excluded from the initial meeting.

Another restriction Brady will have is that once he officially becomes the Raiders’ owner, he will be prohibited from criticizing officials, which will make his job as a commentator somewhat difficult.
