Will Levis Injury Update – Titans QB To Undergo Season Ending Surgery As Cam Ward Loses Primary Backup!

Levis forced to go under the knife due to right shoulder injury

The Tennessee Titans have been dealt a major blow to their 2025 season as quarterback Will Levis has been ruled out for the entirety of the season. The Titans’ 2023 second-round draft pick is set to undergo a season-ending surgery on his right shoulder.

Levis suffered an injury to his shoulder last season and aggravated the same later on in the season. However, it is unknown at the moment exactly what development has taken place during the offseason.

An official statement from the Titans extended the team’s full support behind Levis and his decision to undergo surgery after consulting with doctors and his representatives. The organization also acknowledges Levis’ growth as a leader and lauds his professionalism throughout this offseason.

Cam Ward All but Confirmed As Titans Starter for the Season

While there was little to no doubt that the Titans’ number one overall pick from this year’s draft, Cam Ward, would take the field as the starter this season, Levis’ surgery has all but confirmed it. Even though there was no official word put out by the team, it was widely assumed that Ward would take over the starting duties, while Levis would be his backup.

Lackluster play from Levis over the past couple of seasons led Tennessee to spend its first-round pick on a signal caller. Ward, who was the outright number one quarterback in this year’s draft, is expected to propel the Titans offense to new heights.

Apart from Ward, the Titans also have experience on the roster with veteran quarterbacks Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle. However, with Levis not coming back for the season, Tennessee may opt for someone with more snaps under center as Ward’s backup.

The Titans begin their 2025 NFL season on the road as they travel to Denver to take on the Broncos. After finishing 3-14 with a six-game losing streak to end the 2024 season, Titans fans will be hoping for a much better performance this time, especially in an AFC South division that currently features only the Texans as a dominant force.

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
