Will Jayson Tatum play tonight? Update on Boston Celtics Superstar’s availability for Game 2 vs. Orlando Magic

Following a 103-86 victory in Game 1, the Boston Celtics will host the Orlando Magic in Game 2 of the first-round playoff series on Wednesday. The second-seeded Boston faced a major blow during the game when their star player, Jayson Tatum suffered a right wrist injury.

The Celtics’ All-Star landed awkwardly after a flagrant foul by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in the fourth quarter. He remained on the floor and shot his free throws. Tatum didn’t leave the game but was seen in discomfort. Tatum finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds on 8-of-22 shooting.

Celtics would look to extend their winning run and take a 2-0 lead before heading to Orlando for a two-game road trip in the series. On the other hand, Magic have to deliver an extraordinary performance to stun Boston, who went 28-13 this season in their home matchups.

Will Jayson Tatum play tonight?

Jayson Tatum’s X-ray was clean after the game, but the Celtics star will not be ready to make a return. Tatum should be considered “day-to-day” and he was still “sore” after the game, updated head coach Joe Mazzulla.

Jayson Tatum has been listed as doubtful for Wednesday with a “right distal radius bone bruise.” Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Tuesday that a later MRI revealed a bone bruise in Tatum’s shooting wrist. The NBA Insider went on to call it a “pain tolerance injury,” and said Tatum is “day-to-day.”

Tatum has averaged 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game this season. Meanwhile, the Celtics would prefer to rest their key player in Game 2 to help him recover. Mazzulla’s side can still beat the Magic without their star. If Boston loses the game, it still can come back and win the series.

Apart from Tatum, there is no player on the Celtics’ injury report, and they will have a healthy roster for Game 2.
