Jimmy Butler has made himself at home with the Warriors! The former Miami Heat forward was traded to the Steve Kerr-managed side in exchange for Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson and a protected first-round pick.

While there was anticipation about Butler’s movement from the Heat, the chances of the Warriors acquiring him were low. However, after a dramatic month, Butler is finally at his new team. He is coming on the back of 17.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game in this season.

The 35-year-old, who spent five and a half seasons at the Heat, and left the side occupying the eighth spot on the team’s list of points, rebounds and assists, appeared in his first press conference as a Warriors’ member.

Butler spoke about how it is to join stars like Stephen Curry and Draymond Green and said “they can teach me a whole lot,” and will “do whatever it takes to win.” The Warriors also revealed Butler’s new jersey and the six-time All-Star will sport a new number, contrary to what he would don during his stay with the Heat, No. 22.

Why will Jimmy Butler wear No. 10 for the Warriors?

The heart-warming reason behind Butler opting No. 10 was revealed and according to which, he is doing so for Brazilian soccer great and his close friend Neymar Jr. Notably, Neymar also wears No. 10 for his national team, and as a mark of respect towards the friendship they share, Butler decided to go for a different number.

For the unversed, Butler and the footballer share a close bond and have shared a glimpse of their friendship. Be it the soccer player donning a “Jimmy TEAM” tshirt for the baller, or the latter boycotting Brazilian team on social media, both have time and again given shout-outs to each other on social media.

Jimmy Butler’s move to Warriors: Full Trade

As per the trade that involved a total of five teams,

Miami Heat get: Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Andeson, a 2025 protected first-round draft pick from Warriors and Davion Mitchell from Raptors.

Golden State Warriors get: Jimmy Butler

Utah Jazz get: Josh Richardson, a 2031 second-round draft and cash considerations from Miami, Kenyon Martin Jr. and a 2028 second round draft from Detroit.

Detroit Pistons get: Dennis Schroder, Lindy Waters III and a 2031 second-round draft pick from Warriors.

Toronto Raptors get: P.J. Tucker from the Jazz, 2026 second-round draft pick along with cash consideration from the Heat.
